Help save Bement Camp and Conference Center!

I basically grew up at summer camp, and it has without a doubt made me who I am today (just refer to the ACA's new marketing campaign "because of camp," there's a lot of things you could fill in about me!). Redfin did some pro-bono work to develop the web site at http://savebement.org, making heavy use of CiviCRM - the open source constituent relationship management software originally developed to fill the need of grassroots movements like this one.

Our goal is to save Bement Camp and Conference Center, which delivered a summer-camp program which has touched literally thousands of people over its lifetime. The current owners are discerning what to do with the camp and we want to be an entity that can throw our hat into the ring.

Like Chris, summer camp also

Like Chris, summer camp also served in large part to make me who I am today. It would be a tragedy to lose a place such as Bement Camp and Conference Center to these uncertain times. I wish Chris and everyone involved with this project best of luck!

Bement was the place that

Bement was the place that created me. I wouldn't have survived my parent's divorce otherwise. It's the place that connected my cousin and I; we remain the closest people in our lives today. It's such an enourmous part of my family heritage--my grandparents were counselors, my mom went there and later became a counselor. Ever since I can remember, I dreamed of going there. When I think of summer, I think of Bement. When I think of my favorite place in the world, I think of Bement.
So you can imagine how devastated I was to hear it was closing. It's as if the second, more fragile part of my life after the divorce was all forgotten. It was as if I was that broken girl again.
Please, please save Bement!
